In the New Testament three of Paul's letters, 1st and 2nd Timothy as well as Titus, are written to evangelists or preachers. They provide great insight into the work and responsibility of evangelists in the early church. Today, we more commonly use the terms "preacher" or "minister". Their work includes teaching both existing Christians so they can grow in their faith as well as talking about Jesus with non-Christians. At the Aledo Church of Christ, we have one full-time minister and two part-time ministers.
The Aledo Church of Christ welcomed Charlie Thomason as its new preacher Sunday, December 13, 2015.
Charlie, a veteran of 27 years as a pulpit minister, comes to Aledo after serving 16 years as minister of the Faith Village Church of Christ in Wichita Falls. He will be returning to Parker County where he spent his early life and attended grades first through eighth in the Weatherford ISD. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1986.
Charlie graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 1995 and holds a degree from the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock. He held previous preaching assignments in Ironton, OH, Comanche, OK and at the Parkway Drive Church of Christ in Lubbock.
Charlie and his wife, Rebecca, have been married 26 years and have been working together in ministry their entire married life. They have two children. Moriah, their daughter, is a student at Oklahoma Christian, and a son, Christian, is attending the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Rebecca works in the medical field where she is a Neurophysiology Technician.
He is excited about the plans for the growth of the Aledo area over the next 10 years and believes God is always working to bring people to Himself.
